With rear tine tillers you can till at an uniform depth during the seed bed preparation. The wheels of rear tine tillers only allow the machine to operate forward and slowly. Despite the forward power of the tines, the wheels hold the tiller at the place and tines can dig depth in order to seed bed. Usually, the tilling depth is controlled by the depth gauge installed inside the machine box.
Why rear tine tillers have many advantages over front line tillers
Rear tine tillers can work faster and more efficiently than front tine tillers. They are much more efficient because tines located at the rear rotate faster, therefore rear tillers provide better performance with the same power. Rear tines come down on the soil, cutting up and tilling the plant material into the ground. After that, the process starts again coming around the tines.
The difference between simple rear tine tillers and counter-rotating rear tine tillers is the aggressiveness about the tillers dig the soil. While simple rear tillers can cultivate around a consistent 2” depth, enhanced counter rotating may till at 5” in some areas and 8” in others. However, they are not desired for more than 2” depth because may carry the tiller to dig down more than the desired depth.
